The Overnight Report
First things first, if you haven't read it yet, BB9 House vs Amanda is required reading before you proceed with this post.
So much happened last night. I'm going to focus on the big picture. Absolutely everyone was either offensive or offended last night.

Alex was able to pull it together enough to calmly speak with Amanda, accompanied by Jen and Parker, about the future of their game.
The following clip, captured by scootie668 just before 2am BBT, shows calmer heads prevailing for at least a few minutes.
- Alex: I need you to play this game... but I'm sleeping downstairs in the living room.
It should be noted that while Parker did go up to check on Amanda, he seems pretty well done with her too.

At 2:20 am we drop in on a conversation between Allison, James, Chelsia and Joshuah. The ugliness spreads and continues. Allison is livid about Jen & Amanda's song about her, and thinks she poured water on her bed. Joshuah continues with the C word and others about Amanda. James hops in to echo in the hate-Amanda chorus. Ich.
At 2:45am, we move on to Race-Gate-2008, cleverly titled by xx2OOxx of youtube fame and bbcouchpotatoes. Parts 1 & 2 are below. Now it's Ryan's turn to be mad.
At bb9dish, we are extremely fortunate to have an extremely thoughtful and intelligent group of bloggers. Unfortunately, many of their voices are not always heard or seen, because they exist in the comment section of the blog. This morning, Doc Rocket put my own feelings on the entire subject of last night's events into better words than I can even dream about at this point. Here's what she had to say:

I have so much to say...but I'll try to keep it short.
I want to start this off by saying that I like Amanda and am still a fan.
Amanda has been playing a one person game for a while. Her and Alex were fine together for a little bit but they had a misunderstanding/miscommunication and their connection began to deteriorate. It first started when he made a few comments to her along the lines of her dressing like a slut etc. Alex had feelings for her and hated that she allowed other men in the house to see her dressed in ways that might provoke them to desire her. Instead of communicating those feelings in a gentle manner, he was a bit brute and bruised her by calling her some not-so-nice names. Amanda didn't take it lightly.
Parker was kind to Amanda in the way she had wanted Alex to be. He flattered her saying that she looked hot in her little shorts and made her feel good about herself. He also listened to her talk and talk and talk. He filled the void after she felt dogged by Alex's words. They grew closer. Alex grew jealous...after all he always cared about her, he just didn't show her that he did in a way that made sense to her.
Alex's jealousy gave Amanda reassurance that even though he called her names, he obviously still liked her otherwise he wouldn't care. That is exactly what she needed to boost her self esteem. She talked about his jealousy pretty regularly with several HG's...it made her feel good. It was a mistake, but one that was clearly done with out ill intensions overall. She is playing the game as one part of a team and shouldn't be spreading negative ideas about her other half, but she was hurt and looking to band aid the wound. Alex was jealous...she wasn't lying...but she should have talked to Alex about it, not the house.
Amanda obviously has feelings for Alex as well. I know most will disagree with me (even Amanda might for that matter) but if she didn't like him she would not have talked about him night and day. She wasn't saying things like "Alex is ugly, he's a piece of shit, his feet smell, etc." She was saying that he was jealous, called her a slut, tells her not to wear certain things...all of which he actually did and said. She wanted someone to step up and tell her that she isn't a slut, that she was pretty in her little shorts, that she's a good person. She wanted confirmation from others.
Then the whole "Alex trying to touch her while she was sleeping" thing happened. This is a sensitive subject. We know it happened because he admitted it, and I give him so much credit for doing that. But Amanda made another mistake here talking about it with so many other HG's. It was wrong of him to do. No matter what a person is wearing, no one has the right to touch them against their will. It would have been smart of him to respectfully ask her to put more clothes on because he was attracted to her...but he was playing his side of the story as well, trying to deny that he liked her (at the time).
Amanda spoke about the incident rather frequently. She should have, if she were playing a team game, kept it between her and Alex. I never heard her accuse him of rape. If anything, I think she was pretty calm about the whole thing...if it were me I would have jumped up in the bed and given him hell right on the spot! IF she said she "felt like he was trying to rape her" then perhaps she did. It is no small thing to be groped by a person you have not given permission to do so. Perhaps she was just thinking about it a bit more and felt bad. OR there is even the chance that she was just saying it without thinking about it...mulling it over in her head and sharing her thoughts.
All the while Joshua was developing some serious hatred towards Amanda. He began planning her demise pretty early on. Josh was taking a mental inventory of everything Amanda said...he would even egg her on and get her to feel close enough to him to confide in him. It was sneaky, but he was successful at pulling the wool over her eyes. He was also able to twist Natalie against Amanda (rather effortlessly). He exaggerated Amanda's statements and split up their friendship.
The thing is this: All of the things that Josh complains about regarding Amanda, Natalie is also "guilty" of yet he doesn't have a "problem" with Natalie at all. Hypocritical. In fact all of the HG's have done one thing or another...so why the witch hunt? You mean to tell me that NONE of the other HG's have talked sh*t about anyone? Josh is the biggest sh*t thrower in the house. He has plans to put up Matt and Natalie yet he is wooing Nat constantly. NONE of the other girls in the house have shown off their bodies (you too Chelsia!)? NONE of the other HG's have complained about their partners? C'mon Josh...you don't like her for personal (unknown) reasons and that's why the attack was so personal. You already split up her closest female ally, turned the house against her, exaggerated her words and even lied about things that she said...did you have to drive the knife in with your vicious "like her father" statement? Not cool. Not strategic. Unnecessary.
Chelsia also lost points in my book as well. What was she talking about? She gave her reasons for not liking Amanda and they all had to do with petty garbage. She mooned everyone trying to make a statement about Amanda's shorts, but other girls in the house have worn them too... She also said Amanda looks in the mirror all the time...Who cares? What does that have to do with anything? Are you angry because somehow Amanda knows that you are planning on putting Matt/Nat on the block if you win HOH? That would have been a better thing to say...
I understand why Alex was so upset...he was swayed by the stories that were coming out in the moment and really didn't have much reason to trust Amanda since he already felt betrayed by her talking about him. I just wish he would have (against normal reactions) stuck a little closer to her. It isn't going to profit him if they go on a witch hunt after her. Hopefully today they will have a chance to get together and make nice...find a way to pull themselves up in the game...work on finding a way to make Josh look bad...strategize for once and make a plan...get Matt on board and work on fixing the Nat problem (including getting Matt to ask Nat not to let others brainwash her, again)...fight like hell for POV and get Matt/Nat pumped up to win the next HOH.
All in all I think Josh is going to take care of himself. He is vicious and we haven't seen the last of it. If he can be provoked by a person who didn't even say or do much to him, it'll happen again. He blew everything WAY out of proportion last night. In addition, Natalie is also guilty for what happened. She is the one who technically started it. She yapped to Chelsia who then had it out with Amanda which escalated to a point that Josh was able to freak out...and the lynch mob gained momentum.
I just haven't seen enough unforgivable actions by Amanda to think that she deserved what happened. I've seen nothing but a whole lot of stupid garbage blow way out of proportion.
Just my 25 cents.
Now I feel like the blog is complete on this subject.

Good morning! Wow what a night!
Carolyn, I'm just wondering if you have seen the posting on TMZ regarding an Autism group sending CBS a letter regarding Adam's use of the word "retard". They are saying that CBS chose to air this segment of the show to boost their ratings. They are asking that he be taken of the show immediately and also to cancel Big Brother (which they refer to as Big Brother 8). Then later in the letter they state that they have also contacted the advertisers of the show and asked them if they really want "their products associated with language that demeans the people with autism and other disabilities".

While I agree that the comment was inappropriate (and Sheila did confront him), are they serious that they think the show should be cancelled? What’s next? The person who needs to apologize is Adam, not CBS!
These people have issues. This is the first season that I have watched Big Brother where no one can keep their mouthes shut...no one. This season is spiraling out of control. The majority of the house guest are complete train wrecks. The women on the show are living up to the stereotype that women hate other women.
I'm glad that the first video post is there. Seeing a bunch of people enraged over the outburst against Amanda has been laughable. Even her own partner knows she deserved it.

Superfro: How can you say Amanda "deserved" the words that Josh spewed? Even without the noose comment, no one "deserves" to be screamed at and called those names. What has our society come to when it's OK to scream obscenities at someone like that? Amanda did NOTHING that any of the other houseguest haven't done, even more seriously than Amanda:

OMG SHEILA IS SO ANNOYING. Why doesn't she just stay out of it?? She's acting like it's her business as to why Jen is telling stories about HER family and HER boyfriend. Jen made the decision to say that about her family, she'll have to deal with the consequences, not Sheila and Allison.

In a way that would have been more satisfying because I find Natalie to be MUCH more annoying and pathetic and just plain unlikable than Amanda! Her incessant talking and gossiping and the way she just gives herself away to Matt, who has made it very clear that he doesn't care about her SHOULD bring about some of the same 'hatred' that has been expressed towards Amanda. Natalie is the shallowest of them all and my dislike for her grows every day...I'm not crazy about 'playa' Matt either -- wouldn't mind at all if they are the next couple to go! UGH!
However, while I might enjoy someone going off on Natalie I could do without seeing anymore of the same viciousness and callousness we've seen thus far. That is just painful to watch -- as well as the way these kids are throwing themselves at each other sexually. Does one HAVE to be an exhibitionist to get on Big Brother?
Onto another subject:
Sheila's 'holier than thou' politically correct BS is about to drive me nuts! That woman doesn't have a real thought of her own -- she only knows how to parrot the liberal 'politically correct' babble. She is entitled to her opinions, of course, but I don't believe those really ARE her opinions - they are just the ones she spouts off to be 'liked'. I don't think she is honest enough with herself to even KNOW how she really feels or thinks about such subjects. Imperfect as Adam and Jen and Ryan may be with their biases and ignorance, at least they are expressing HONEST opinions!
Sheila appears to be lazy and simply chooses to go with the PC thing to say so she doesn't have to actually explore herself and learn what is really going on inside. Yeah, that's right, I don't like Sheila, but then again, I don't really like anyone in this house this season.
Maybe Amanda can redeem herself, time will tell...if she allows this experience to humble her so she can learn and grow from it, I think we will see a wonderful woman emerge, but so far it looks as if her immaturity may keep getting in her way. Pity...

If Amanda were a TRUE BB player she would find a way to turn last night to her advantage. There's something to be said for being a victim for a moment but victorious in the end.

Ronda: I despise the actions of Natalie, so that wouldn't bother me either. ;)
However, I've watched the stuff since last Wednesday night. I knew that first night that Amanda was trouble. She was everywhere and saying everything to everyone. That will catch up with you in the house. At that point they had already been there for a week. Josh was already calling her those names in private on that first night of broadcast. The fact that he sat on it for 5 days probably only made the situation worse.
I know this....if I can watch the house for only 3-4 hours a day, and know there's an issue with the girl and how she's behaving with people, I'm sure it's only that much worse to the people actually in that environment. Also, the fact that Alex keeps putting her in her place and trying to get her to realize what she has done and how it's viewed has said volumes. Like I said, even he knew she deserved all of it coming to a head.
I think the comedy is that last year Dick was heralded as a genius for berating folks. Now it's a travesty that people would speak to others like this. He did his for game, and make no mistake that what happened last night was for game too. If there was not an audience in order to tear down Amanada in front of, I'm sure Josh would've bit his tongue once again.

Wow. I am quite offended that Jen would BRING that racial issue up. Calling Ryan out for being AGAINST inter-racial relationships. My husband and I are in one, and guess what? Our son is (dare I say it) a *MIXED* baby! AHHHH!

I can't stand Allison. I hate her and her trying to steal Ryan. That is totally uncalled for. Jen and Ryan can work out their problems by themselves they don't need to "lesbian" alliance to help them out. Jen also was saying that it was her family that was racist and she has gone against that and she isn't. I think Allison is so jealous of Jen she will just pull random things out to turn Ryan against Jen. Like she said on the day she found out Jen and Ryan were together, she was said because she thought her and Ryan could be more than friends.

Again, Jen mentioned to Sheila about Ryan reacting to her last boyfriend and his view on interracial relationships. Jen is not racist. Her family may be... Ryan probably not. And what is wrong with stating a fact... except that she told somebody who has to preach to everybody else that she comes from TN, yadiyadiyada and SHE (Sheila) knows about racism. Jen was wrong for trusting the wrong person. SHe will most likely pay for putting her foot in the mouth. Just like Amber last year telling Eric about her past in confidence. Lack of strategy.

I agree that Adam should choose terms other than 'retard. Sounding like you have a little compassion goes a long way! ON the other hand, it seems to me that this Autism group must be watching the feeds. I say that because it seems as though they have taken cues from the HG's many arguments and blown their own complaints so totally OUT OF THE WATER that their requests are ridiculous! And they want people to take them seriously? Give me a break! People need to stop and think and make REASONABLE requests. Otherwise, they should expect to be ignored!

Secondly, I'm surprised at most posters' animosity towards Josh. I watched ShoToo last night thinking how uncharacteristically quiet he was [at first]. He simply sat there quietly with a blank stare while Amanda prattled on arrogantly about her game play and while she continued to badmouth her partner and others at every turn.
At first I thought he was still depressed but evidently Josh has been stewing in that sauna for a week now while listening to Amanda's grade-school crap and finally had ENOUGH! I don't blame him one bit. I do not applaud his choice of words. I also disliked the gang-style attack however, Amanda was long overdue for a call-out. That's what happens when one runs their mouth too much - it catches up with them.
Furthermore, I agree with poster 'mikeinbama' when he writes 'These people have issues.' Did they empty out a mental ward for this cast? I'm desperately trying to like just one of them. So far Allison is ahead of the pack for simply having a heart. I hope what we're seeing from her is genuine.

Chelsia starts OUR FIRST argument that leads to a HUGE BLOWOUT between everyone. This leads Joshuah to call her a "CUNT" and tell her everyone hates her to which some tell her they don't actually hate her. Joshuah then says how Amanda said this and that but NEVER admits to saying his own shit about houseguests in the house.
Amanda continues to defend herself as Joshuah makes up shit including "rape" from Amanda about Alex which isn't true. Then Chelsia throws in something about Amanda running around in booty shorts WHEN CHELSIA got half naked in the hot tub yesterday. Joshuah is calling her a horseface and a cunt to her face, almost hits her repeatedly.
Alex isn't helping by making Amanda feel stupid but he's understandable upset that she has kinda screwed up his game but it is Alex's fault as well because you're suppose to find a way like this twist work to your advantage.
This FIGHT is the entire house against Amanda. Chelsia doesn't admit to talking shit when she and everyone else has about Amanda and then JOSHUAH says "like her dad" and this THROWS HER OVER THE EDGE. Amanda cries and gets FURIOUS that her dad was brought into and it was Joshuah. Amanda does acknowledge that Joshuah said it and then fingers Chelsia who's yelling at the moment and Chelsia makes a comment that she didn't say it.
JOSHUAH gets away with bringing her dead dad into the argument and taking way over the line and no one corrects him or goes after Joshuah for making that comment. A HOUSE OF IDIOTS. Alex is kissing everyone's ass, including Joshuah and how everything is Amanda's fault when the the whole house is to blame.
For a house to gang up on one person and judge them about everything they may have said is just plain wrong. No one is better than her.
Chelsia once again says "Did I say that about her Dad?!?!" and Joshuah STILL doesn't admit to saying it. Alex then jokes about how Joshuah blew up and how he was quiet all the time. The whole house sides with Joshuah and jokes around with him. Chelsia again says it to Amanda that she didn't say it BUT Chelsia does admit that she did make a comment "give her a noose" to which Joshuah felt the need to add "like her dad" meaning to commit suicide.
NOW do you know why I HATE Joshuah. Chelsia needs to just apologize for her comment, not defend herself and the house ganging up on one person is just uncalled for. Let 2 people fight and argue without physical contact.
Oh my GAWD Natalie says "I'm not a slut", MISS BLOW JOB TWICE ALREADY isn't a slut people. The whole house continues to laugh and joke around. Parker then says "anything I've done Joshuah has trumped it" and then Sheila tries to defend Joshuah's comments as does Chelsia.
OH MY GAWD. Joshuah hugs Alex. DISGUSTING. Joshuah then says "You can only take so much" and Chelsia laughs. Give me a break! Alex now wonders who brought in the word "rape" into this and it was who else but Joshuah. Joshuah doesn't admit to it.
Sheila now wonders why Amanda "would throw Alex under the bus" BUT that's what Alex is doing, throwing Amanda under the bus. I understand he's hoping and praying that pairs split up so he can have a great position in the house but that ain't happening anytime soon. I can't wait to see how CBS airs this and they BETTER FUCKING AIR Joshuah's comments!
I do remember Sharon trying to control her out of control partner. Sharon is no where to be found at the moment.
Joshuah is in the kitchen with half the house still defending himself about tonight. Amanda is in the Diary Room at the moment. Matt then tells Jen that Allison said something about Jen making a comment winning HOH next week, Allison is brought out and gently confronted and says she didn't but Matt says she did. Now Allison tries to backtrack and say more stuff about what Jen meant about "the tables will turn". Another useless comment that Allison, the new drama queen, is adding words and comments that were never there.
Both Parker and Jen keep saying "the tables will turn" because it will, power will shift. Allison does admit that she feels sorry for Amanda and the house going after her. Everyone keeps asking "who said rape" and the answer is Joshuah but no one is learning this piece of information yet.
Much later Joshuah, encouraged from the house, continues to call Amanda, behind her back, a cunt and a bitch and insulting her in every way possible. I'm so disappointed with Joshuah. Alex then says "she called me a rapist" which she never did, this was Joshuah's doing bring the word "rape" into the argument. Apparently Parker implied that Alex "raped" Amanda and she didn't correct him and this story got out to other people and Joshuah felt it was the perfect time to go after Amanda with FALSE UNTRUE information.
Later Alex grabs everyone in the kitchen and talks about Amanda and what she did the other night. Alex once again asks why he's labeled a "rapist" to which Joshuah AGAIN never admits to saying it and bringing it up. AGAIN Amanda never used the word "rape" to describe what Alex did to her a few nights ago. Apparently Alex reached over in their bed during the night and tried to "grab" her pussy area.
Amanda still has yet to come out of the Diary Room. Alex continues to make it all about him and what's happened to him the other night from an incident the other night that was intended to be just a joke played on Alex by Natalie, Parker and Matt.
Parker says "this is the first time I heard of Amanda calling Natalie a slut" which Amanda NEVER did. She did make a comment about how she isn't a slut based on what someone said about Natalie.
Now the "rape" comment comes up again and Joshuah FINALLY says he "heard" it from someone else. Allison is pointed the finger at and she FINALLY says that Amanda didn't say it but kinda of implied it. GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK. Alex doesn't deny trying to feel up Amanda. A house of morons and children, what do we expect from a cast of 20-somethings plus one 45 year old woman.
This whole thing is out of control and started by "he said, she said" bullshit where half of the shit spewed tonight is based on lies and misunderstandings. Joshuah, as low of a human being can get, continues to disappoint me along with the rest of the house tonight. Where was the level headed person of the night that should have pointed out that an entire house is ganging up on one person and that wasn't right.
Yes it is a game but this went too personal far too quick, Joshuah being one of the first people in the house to make it very personal.
Wow, Chelsia just said Amanda is a "beautiful girl" and that she needs to change the person "inside" to become a better person. Hey bitch, turn around and tell that to your "friend" Joshuah.
Later Amanda finally comes back into the house with a picture of her father. Joshuah starts in again on her by saying "She's out! Watch out!". Everyone in the kitchen was talking about Amanda, more like bad mouthing her and when they hear Joshuah verbally digging into her they tell him to stop and "it's going to make you look bad". Joshuah says he's going outside but stands in the kitchen while Amanda walks past him to get something. Everyone is super quiet.
She then gets told by Alex that they need to talk about their partnership. She agrees and heads upstairs. She tells everyone "good night" and they say good night. She then tells Joshuah "good night" and he returns with "Fuck You". Joshuah heads outside as Alex and the others in the kitchen agree "there's no need for that".
Later Joshuah, DRAMA QUEEN, is in the bathroom area with some people already telling them that he's "scarred for his life" that Amanda is that "pyscho" and that she will "kill" him. Drama CUNTY QUEEN Joshuah heads for the Diary Room to tell them of his concerns. But they won't let him in and Amanda laughs at him from the HOH room as she watches upstairs.
Amanda is upstairs telling Sharon and Jen that the Diary Room has TOLD her that they are going to AIR Joshuah's comments about him using her father's death to hurt her, that everyone she was accussed of is wrong because the DR told her that they said "everything I said out there was the truth", which it was, plenty of petty shitholes putting words in her mouth.
Upstairs Jen wonders who brought up the "rape" comment that Amanda supposely made towards Alex. They all agree if that was true Alex wouldn't be there. Amanda says Alex admits that he tried to be with her and that Joshuah was the one who brought "rape" into this huge fight.
Sharon then admits that when she tried to stop Joshuah from making comments that he turned to her and threatened to start on her if she tries to stop him. Wow! Amanda also finds out that Chelsia lied when she first confronted her outside because Natalie was the person who told her that "Amanda said this" when Chelsia lied about how Natalie didn't tell her when the fight first started. I know, high school drama!!!!
In the bathroom area Allison is talking to Joshuah about how Alex is in the Diary Room still upset about Amanda supposely using the word "rape" to describe him. If Alex is in the Diary Room right now they will inform her that she never said it. Joshuah is still in the bathroom saying AMANDA TOOK IT TO A NEW LEVEL! Dear God may lightening strike this douche bag now! Fuckuah is worried that Alex will learn the truth and that Joshuah, along with others, were starting shit up and saying stuff that wasn't true. AT ALL!
Upstairs they straighten out another misunderstanding that Amanda NEVER called Natalie a "slut" and Allison, the show's producer, was in the Diary Room with Amanda, stating that Amanda never said that about Natalie.
Amanda is also upset with Alex for siding with the rest of the house. She doesn't want to sleep in the same bed with him. Joshuah continues to sit on the bathroom chair silent now and thinking of everything he's said and done in the house, I'm assuming. But he is just sitting there quiet as fuck for a change.
Alex comes out of the Diary Room and Dumbassuah heads for the Diary Room. Alex heads upstairs with Matt where Amanda, Sharon and Jen is. Amanda flees into the bathroom. Matt says "my man is moving out". What the fuck, this is like a douche bag is moving out of the apartment. Alex says the DR told him that he can sleep in the living room.
Matt comes into the bathroom to tell Amanda that I never said shit. Amanda is upset at Matt for starting it ALL. Matt continues to deny it and Amanda starts to defend herself to Matt. Parker comes into the HOH room now.
Amanda starts crying again in the bathtub about the whole situation. It seems Parker and Jen figure out Amanda never said Natalie was a "whore" and that it was another situation where words are being put into Amanda's mouth. Amanda then says she yelled at Allison, the show's producer who was in the Diary Room earlier, that why did she put her with a "white boy". No wonder why Amanda is up on Parker's NUTS!
Joshuah comes out of the Diary Room and again starts in about how Amanda is going to "stab him". ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Alex continues talk down about Amanda to better his position in the house.
