Big Brother Sunday Show Review
As the show begins, all I can think is, oh my gosh, I forgot how incredibly far behind the tv only audience really is!!
- "Who will Amanda and Alex nominate for eviction, and how will Jen and Ryan's decision to reveal their relationship play out in the house?"
LMAO at Amanda's reaction to her pic. Remind anyone of anything? ;) At least there were no tears.
The moments chosen to frame the characters and create compassion for them were just excellent:
- Amanda telling everyone about her father;
- Alex handling the cross made from the remains of the World Trade Center and gently placing it in it's container;
- the phenomenal Extreme Close Up shots of Chelsia intently listening to Amanda's story;
- Allison's personal struggle with Jen and Ryan's pre-existing relationship, and
- Jen demanding that Allison just keep her mouth shut.
That last one really made me laugh. Irony defined. Jen demanding Allison keep her mouth shut, when if Jen had been able to keep her secret like she was supposed to, Allison would be none the wiser.
That was followed by quite possibly the dumbest succession of moves since Dustin's voluntary flush nom, Parker went up to HoH to divulge his partner's secret to the Alex and Matt before nominations. Then Jen spilled the beans to some others. And they both managed to convince themselves it was all Allison's fault and doing.
The mind whirls. Excellent editing on this episode.
The creation of the Lesbian Alliance was hysterical and brilliant. Brilliant because it humanized both Sheila and Allison for the home audience. Without the moments with Allison, Sheila's entire portrayal would have been as the shrew. Same goes for Allison on the flip side. Showing them both being playful and enjoying life for a few minutes will go a long way in garnering support for them.
My only complaint about the Sunday Show was the glaring lack of any mention of Neil's departure. They'll have to say something about it on Tuesday. It's Veto Comp day for the tv onlys...

i really don't like how some of the people are portrayed. it is just weird seeing how far behind they are on things. i for sure thought they were going to mention something about neil.
The failure to mention Neil's departure tells me he is in sequester do to a huge twist. I mean the noms were tonight, how do they explain Sharon being in the house for the noms when she was evicted before the noms? They are up to something big in the twist dept. I mean even Neil's friends don't know where he is.
They couldn't say what happened to Neil because at the end of the episode was when they had nominations and he was still there for that
I agree, I was waiting for them to explain to us what happened to Neil too! Also, did you notice when they were showing Sheila and Allison talk in the bathroom, that they were using 2 different times and making it 1. Sheila at some times had a blue glass, and others a clear one. I just thought it was silly. Other than that, the TV audience is very BEHIND! WOW...
I absolutely came close to peeing myself when the whole lesbian alliance came about and the reveal to Joshuah and Neil! It also made me upset because of the fact that we were not going to be seeing much of Neil after this episode!! U'd think they would have given him some DR face time on the TV show or something.
Question: Is it absolutely certain that Neil left because of family issues or whatever or are we merely speculating that? Is it possible that the producers are trying a twist right now to get evicted houseguests into the house? I have been on ure blog incessantly Carolyn and can't for the life of me remember if it was definitely true. Other than that, I enjoyed the show!

I was surprised at Sheila's blowout towards Adam. I haven't seen that clip before and it was very overdramatic.
Show watchers are far far behind the feed watchers or people like me who keep close to the updates and watch BBAD. So much crap has gone down! Haha, they are missing out on the whole BB effect I guess you could say.
What did happen to Neil? **Sorry I don't have the feeds... can't afford them.
I am a longtime , well since the beginning, BB Fan....I don't know if I'm totally digging the whole couples thing. How are they going to make it last three months if they're evicted as couples? I am also having trouble picking players to favor. It was Amanda and Alex and I am LOVING Alex, but now I am having issues with Amanda. Parker has no strategy. Jen and Ryan are ridiculous, not to mention Allison. I do like James and Chelsia though. I don't know...it's still early in the game. It's just funny how those who only watch the tv portion have a totally different view than those of us who know the whole story....we'll see how it unfolds!!
Spyke, the nominations on the feeds where after Neil left. He left wednesday night, and the noms where later in the week.
Chronologically, it hasn't happened yet.
It will be probably a focal point of Tuesday's ep.
i was very disappointed that there was no mention of why neil left but then again, the tv audience has no idea that he left.
i actually enjoyed the episode. stupid jen and ryan...how in the heck do they think allison told everyone?!?!?!?! and jen, she needs to go. i like parker but jen is just toooooo full of herself and too mean and rude.

I'm sure that on tuesday's show we will see neil gone because that's when the veto comp is aired and he's gone by that time, but since tuesday is not a live show, we probably won't find out til Wednesday what really happened with him because that is a live show and Julie might explain why he left or bring us in on a new twist that the players won't know about, like that he might be coming back
Christopher chronologically the noms came after Neil left. Are they just taping stuff or what? When the feeds came back on Wednesday, Josh was crying and others were showing him support while others were talking about the questions in the HOH comp. Something isn't right. Even Neil's friends have no idea where he is in the real world. Things in the house keep changing, I noticed furniture changed colors and I also noticed other things change.
The, if the nominations were after neil left then how come he was sitting at the table during the nominations?
Oh, and they didn't show Sharon in the house during noms, they showed her at the beginning on the recap of last episode when she was evicted
Interesting observation: Nobody has signed on to Neil's MySpace Paige since 2/1/08, and he hasn't had any comments since 2/2/08. You would think that if he was home, he MIGHT have signed on by now (depending on the crisis) and if there were family problems, people usually leave comments, like: thinking about you, etc...

The personal stories were great, and I'm sure that Amanda and Alex were paired because of their losing their fathers... :(

Josh's reaction was priceless... to the announcement on the lesbian alliance. Loved the "I'm trying to control myself" run to Neil.
Carolyn... love you and all the info and BB friendship that you provide, but I still don't feel like I can get behind Allison. Something about her...
PS -- Ha ha ha! I wrote "Neil's MySpace PAIGE" instead of PAGE. That's my daughter's name, and now I will never ever spell that word correctly again! Sorry Carolyn! ;)
People...they are still doing stuff we haven't seen yet cause it was before the feeds started. Remember...they were in the house a week before the feeds came on. I don't have the feeds and I only know what Carlyn reports because I am not home enough to really benefit from the feeds but I have a feeling all this happened a while ago. I think they'll catch up to the feeds soon. I can't wait for the live show. I wish the Chenbot was in all episodes!
There is a huge twist brewing, they did say that even the people watching the feeds would be shocked. Spkye perhaps he was at the table due to creative taping and editing. In any case he left Weds night the noms were later in the week. Something is going on. The other person that commented about Neil's personal myspace is dead on balls accurate, he may not sign on if something did happen but his friends would have posted something if it did. I have a feeling we are all going to pee ourselves when they reveal this twist. Like I said, the producers all along have said even the people watching the live feeds will be surprised and shocked. Todd, Josh's bff and I have talked about this just now, we both agree somethings fishy.
chances are though with the myspace comment thing is that he has his comments set to be approved before posting especially since he went on the show. it would seem that bb would cover all that with them prior to going on. "remove anything identifying you are going on bb, if there is a twist/friend in the house, remove them from your friend list, set all comments to be approved" BB probably also asked him to NOT log in to myspace until after the show was over as not to reveal any information. some of his parting gifts may be contingent upon his confidentiality agreement with CBS...and so on and so forth.
Anon @ 7:36, I agree that they would have to hide things PRIOR to entering the house, but if Neil had to go home several days ago for a family emergency, he would most likely have someone leaving a comment or would have signed on by now... He's probably not actually at home. Sequester, perhaps?!
His comments for his myspace page don't have to be approved because his last comment was left on the 2and, and he hasn't logged in since the 1st...
He is a twist, plain and simple... Word would have leaked SOMEWHERE, be it by the dish chicks, or some sort of site or news station if he left the show for any other reason!
PLUS, if they keep all of the evicted out the show will only last like 2 months tops if they keep evicting in pairs... There is more we don't know about!
The show was alright tonight... I really like Alex, and really can't stand Jen!!! SHe is the fool that told Parker their secret in the first place... If she would have kept her mouth shut to begin with, Allison wouldn't have been an issue! I say we get a pool going to see how long that couple stays together when they get out of the house and he see's her DR sessions talking about how one of them has to go, and it ain't gonna be her!!!
Just for the info for the few people talking about the events and if Neil was there for nominations or not-- Neil was there for nominations...
The nominations were the same day he left just earlier in the day.

I really enjoyed the episode tonight. I still enjoy the shows even though they are way behind us. lol. My favorite are the live shows so I'm really excited for Wednesdays episode :)
I'm really curious about everything with Neil still. Hopefully they will give us some answers. I am ready for a big good & juicy twist :D And then that will also mean there was no sad reason he had to leave :[
The whole Jen & Ryan thing just sucked all around with the twist. I think it's funny that they came out about the secret within only a few days but everyone came down on them for not telling the first day but look what's happened for them telling. Too bad she couldn't just keep her mouth shut or too bad BB just didn't put them together, that would be a hard spot. Jen has been my favorite until tonight, I didn't like the way she handled things with Allison at all... Yeah Allison might of made a big deal out of it but she didn't tell and Jen shouldn't of been such a bitch to her!
The first few days I didn't have too much of a opinion on Allison but these past few days I just keep liking her more & more, hopefully Neil can come back and Allison can get a new partner or that Ryan will be a better player once Jen & Parkers gone [assuming votes stay the same!].
Thank you Carolyn for keeping us all up to date with all our Big Brother obsession, hehe. I love your site! Also I do have a question-- how are you liking the whole "couple" thing so far??

Hate to say it...but I am falling out of like with Allison...
I think Sundays show sucks. I can not believe there is no mention of Neils dpearture especially if one of his family member were injured of killed...BB better get their crap together. I am not the only one that feels this way. They just didnt take enought time due to the writers strike to plan this season out all together. I would rather just watch showtime afterdark and the feeds than CBS
Entertaining show... and I agree it looks more and more like Neil is part of something. His fan page was sad when he left a few days ago and now it's something else.
I wish Jen and Allison could leave. I enjoy Parker and like Ryan. Jen is a bit much and I have started more and more not to like Allison. She is acting like a prom queen on the feeds constantly refering to 'only' being a rated 6... along with Sheila.
Alex is sweet and good looking. Amanda came to life a bit more... but her voice is almost as annoying as Jess' in BB8.
Oh well... will turn on the LF for a while.
Allison in the DR really resembles Daniele in the DR, no? The editors also concentrated on them both being rather whiny. Are they trying to keep ratings by editing to create similar characters as last season?
Parker=Dick, Allison=Daniele, Josh=Dustin (both seasons they had a gay couple), Sheila=Amber/Kail, Matt=Nick (playa), Amanda=Jen (the picture fiasco), and the whole Bible scenario (wow, they're already swearing on the Bible). That's just in my opinion.
Also, Alex's falling off the hammock in the middle of Sheila's rant seems akin to season 8's "Can we get white belts?" in the middle of Jameka's prayer.

If you noticed, Neil was in last night's show. His departure happened after all that... which will be Tuesday's show.
I was thinking... Neil's departure could be part of the show. But it also happened the same day as the NIU shootings (not sure if that's national news, but it's news here in IL). Just a thought.
Has the show always been THIS FAR behind?? I always thought it was 2 days at the most. Seems like we're a week behind.

I feel almost certain that some of the other posters are right in that Neil being removed is part of the twist! I can't wait to find out but I am feeling so sure that's what's going on! Why not say something or put something on the website otherwise...what's it been a week he's been gone? He's going to come back! I also wouldn't be surprised if someone else disappeared from the DR!
The editing totally had me on Amandas side. after seeing her tell her story about her dad... I could tell she was one of the most real people in there. I really felt her pain. she tries to put up a good front hard wall... but she is still very vulnerable on this father issue. Mean people will take advantage of these so-called weaknesses.

well we all SAW Neil on last night's show remember??? He was right by Josh's side as the Lesbian Alliance was proclaimed, so by "tv show only standards", he's still around, hence why no mention of a departure, since his has yet to be shown to tv only viewers. Of course it HAS to be brought up or else how in the hell will they explain the next show when Sharon is in and he's poof........
I do a blog on "show only" perspective for those that get only the show, and for those that don't want spoilers or feeds etc. Odd yes I know, as I RELISH knowing all the juice we dont see on tv, but there are TONS of people that actually prefer not knowing anything that is not shown on the episodes. So I keep mine spolier/feed free
Granted, I am an evil bitch with my thoughts, it works :-)
