While we wait, a word... There have been quite a few comments lately comparing this season's HGs unfavorably to The Real World... I'd like to take the opportunity to point out that without The Real World and Exec Producer Mary Ellis Bunim, may she rest in peace, there would be no Big Brother, no Survivor, no nothin'! Real World started it all... Give props where they are due. The Real World gave birth to the genre.

Josh is in the Backyard.
Sheila and Sharon are whispering in the bathroom... Sheila's filling Adam in on her conversation with the boys last night.
Sharon: Why is he (Adam) not thinking that Joshuah and James are gonna come after them.
Sheila: I think all these guys are spineless.
Sharon: I'll talk to Adam.
Sheila: Adam wants you here.
Sharon: I thought you just said...
BB: Adam, James, Ryan, Natalie. I said, It's time to get up for the day.
Josh comes inside.
Sheila and Sharon resume whispering.
Sheila: Worst case scenario...
Sheila lists all the boys names as being next out.
Sharon: I'll talk to Adam, and I'll say hey, this is the deal... They can talk all they want, but...
Sheila: Ryan's a frikkin traitor and a flip flopper... I've been trying to tell Natalie that all along. You're not going home. Not if I can help it.
Adam yells for Sheila...
Sheila and Sharon move out to the kitchen...
Sheila: You found my present? Yeah.. someone put a tampon in the coffee machine this morning, and squirted ketchup on it or something.
Adam: Scouts honor. It wasn't me.
Adam goes out for a smoke.
James is in bed. Josh is back in bed.
Sheila: (whispers) I'm disgusted by all of them.
Adam goes to the bathroom. Sheila pranks him, and scares him when he comes out.
Back to the kitchen... and talking about the pranks last night. Every time a man leaves the room, Sheila whispers more to Sharon. Meanwhile in the Red Room, the men are talking about Sheila, and how she better keep cleaning to earn her keep. It's either that or start winning some comps.

BACKYARD - Couch
Adam: So did you marinate at all last night?
Ryan: No way. I just went to bed. Something has to come to me.
Adam: It's a crucial decision. I wanna help our numbers...
Ryan: I think it's better for our numbers to get Sharon out...
Meanwhile, on the couch in the bathroom, Sheila and Sharon have resumed the scheming on their end...
It's gonna be nuts today. Spark up the feeds, folks.
Ryan: I just wish i wasn't such a p-ssy yesterday. Things would be easier on us.
Adam: Big time.

Ryan continues to push for evicting Sharon. Adam continues to counter... Adam believes Josh has a better chance at winning HoH. Ryan says if it's physical, Sharon has a better chance.
Ryan: Whatever happens, we need HoH.
Adam: Again.
Ryan: Again.
Ryan returns to pushing for Sharon out. Adam returns to countering...
Adam: Think me n Sheila'll getta prize for being the last couple in the house?
Ryan: You're gettin' nothin', kid.
Adam: How're we gonna do this, dude? This is a critical point in our lives... Joshuah or Sharon? I'm gonna tell him, yeah you're gonna promise me this, but do I believe you, is my question.
Ryan: What's Natalie leaning towards?
Adam: Joshuah.
Ryan: To go?
Adam: Yeah.
Ryan: Well, of course. She's gonna lean towards the girl...
BB: Natalie, the bedroom lights must remain on during the day.
Adam starts coughing, Ryan chides him a little, then Adam apologizes to his mom and says how she's watching the live feeds all the time... Ryan asks if he's embarrassed to know she's watching him 24/7. Adam says, "no, she knows me."

I'm sitting here watching last night's BBAD (while reading Carolyn's updates and all the comments -- what do ya mean "BB Overload"????). At 11:28 BB Time, Sheila says to Adam, Ryan & Josh, "Laugh at me. That's okay. Laugh at me 'cause I can laugh at myself." Huh? What? Say what? ShEVILa IS delusional. Has anybody EVER heard Sheila laugh at herself? If so, please remind me when it happened and what it was about.
That's true. I seriously enjoyed some of the earlier seasons of the Real World. Unfortunately something changed in the way they started casting people and it the show strayed far from the "real" part. Big Brother stepped in and tried to fill that void but the producers must have ended up coming to the same conclusion that mary ellis bunim did: hetero-flex, twenty-something, alcoholic, ken/barbie dolls bring in the money.
Very true. The Real World paved the way for reality tv..
I was just thinking that the other day. Without Real World, we would not have any of these shows.

I wanted to say that I love love love this blog! You doing a most wonderful job Carolyn. I leave it open on my computer all day, and come and check it out for new news and comments. The comments are a great read also.

Yeah, the Martini glass was from the POV comp. I guess when the sun shined down on it, it caused a maginfication through the glass and melted/burned the grass. We will probably see more when they show it on t.v.
All I have to say is after watching Adam with food and his "itch" I would have to get rid of him for health reasons. (gagging...) He would be my number ONE target in the house even though I think he seems to be nice otherwise.
Sounds like Ryan is understanding the situation, hopefully he can set Adam straight. If they get it together, boys vs girls and it would be a 4-3 advantage. (if they take out Sharon)
Ryan and Adam (especially Adam) are getting too caught up in the "could of, should of" stuff, mostly pertaining to how they could have won the POV.
Looking back into the game will distract HG's from the need to peer forward.
The four males left need to wake up and smell the estrogen in the air. The chicks are scheming together way more than in the past. Sheila and Sharon are pretty much blatant in this, and are spending too much time together.
Josh has to pick up on it soon. Sharon's demeanor with him will change.
I agree, Josh and or Ryan needs to start pushing the girl power angle. Maybe, when it comes out later today how Natalie spilled to Sheila last night the idea will kick in?

Adam needs to grow a pair. Shelia is right, Adam is spineless. He can't make a decision without seeing what others are doing. He can't think for himself.
I knew after reading and watching last night I knew Natalie couldn't keep her mouth shut. She had it made. She was covered for two weeks.
James, Ryan and Adam need to vote to keep Josh. They really need to get Shelia out of the house as soon as possible.
This is finally getting good. I have never seen alliances breakdown so quickly.
Shelia is a hot tranny mess. You got to love her for putting doubt in everyones head.

I agree. Natalie had a great alliance going with james, josh and ryan and no one would have suspected it. Seriously, this girl is dumb and Josh is gonna pay for it.
woooooooohooooooo Nat woke up yipeeeeeeeeeee bye bye Josh, I love it. Josh would never have kept his 2 week promise anyway, I hope they don't tell Josh and he goes out just like Dustpan from last season oh the look on Josh's face would be priceless just like Dustpan's was.

If any of you thought Josh or James had Natalie's back you are wrong. Josh said last night to James he isn't keeping his word to Natalie. Josh said if he wins HOH he is putting Natalie up. You need to watch the feeds or BBAD. Ha Josh hda you all fooled but not Natalie.

The demise of the J/J/S/C started weeks ago, when Josh and Sharon were reluctant to win HOH's. Sharon even admitted as much. Didn't they get that they needed to stay in power to keep their alliance together? I think they could have gone to the F4....just had to throw that out there.
Natalie can't be trusted - EVER. It's too bad she does not know what is in her best interest and can't keep anything to herself for longer than one minute.
When James and Josh go, I'm done. Can't listen to Gnat and She-devil anymore. (They make my ears bleed too!)

Just hope they can pull it off. They all need to get rid of Josh because he will for sure aid James anyway he can (cause he can't win anything himself). What is Josh (Japetto) going to do now that his puppet finally got a mind of her own (and not to soon I might add). I'm all for ther girl power. They would have tossed Nat aside when they were done with her. She at least has a chance of winning going this way.

In response to "The Real World" comment. I watch "The Real World" because I like the young, party kids drama but when I watch Big Brother I expect the format in which it has been with older people and with different issues. I watch Real WOrld for Real World and Big Brother for Big Brother. I don't want to see the "The Real World" on Big Brother. I'm not slamming "Real World". Get it? :)
Knew they couldn't keep quiet long enough to have the alliance stick. Now of course everyone is back-tracking. James and Josh will NOT keep their word and Natalie has no reason to believe them. So, why does she even for a minute??
The new alliance should keep it going and not put up James at first. That means that James and Ryan should vote to keep Josh and Ryan will need to win HOH in order for this to happen. James can think he is safe and he may not be playing for POV as hard. Then backdoor him and get him out. Of course these guys can't keep something going for 4 hours let alone 2 weeks! And James is pretty paranoid right now and probably will try to win everything just to be safe.
I have to say that this season has the worst game play from all seasons, but it does have some drama filled days! I think some of the best seasons did have more a variety of characters involved - different ages, races, backgrounds, etc. Where's a Chicken George when you need one?!
Carolyn, like I said yesterday, you're missing key events here!
Right after POV, Ryan and Adam decided, together, to keep Joshua. Ryan went up to Natalie, and tried to get her on board. James went up there said he is using veto. Nat said we are keeping Josh, go get Josh. Josh came up and then Nat made the deal. Of course he already had the votes to stay.
Josh didn't throw Sharon under the bus, they came to him.
All that said, Adam will be an IDIOT if he votes to evict Josh. Sharon WILL go after Adam and Ryan. This is perfect for Josh in ensuring him to stay. He needs the three boy's vote. Of course Adam is dumb so who knows what he will do.
Nat doesn't realize the only way to ensure Josh leaves is to nominate Shiela, Adumb, or Ryan... Ryan would be best, or Adumb.
Okay to the veto ceremony has not happened. the boys should try and scare Natalie into putting up Sheila!! She did offer as a pawn... plus they can convince her with Sheila up on the block instead of Sharon there would be debate on who to kick out..... then oust Big She!!
I forgot to add, it was never really a final 4 agreement, just an agreement from James/Josh not to target Ryan/Nat next week. All I know is I feel bad for Sharon thinking Josh did this all, it was all Nat and Ryan. BUt if Adam keeps Sharon, he is an idiot, and I will root for the girls all the way because Shiela will prove to be to actually be playing this game,a ccidently or not. Nat too.
It's in Nats best interest to keep Sharon... but I feel if SHaron stays, James will set her straight.

Case in point, James/Josh already talking about going back on their agreement if one of them were to win HOH!!!
So please tell me how she is stupid for not going with that "sweet deal" with keeping Josh, sending home Sharon and the working with Josh/James... the two people that had lied to her time and time again and have belittled her & her family...and lets not for get the throwing of water & pickle juice!!!

James might have won POV but he could still easily be sent home if the whole house is against him. So why on earth would anyone want to make James stronger by keeping his friend there?!?!?!?! James always tries to make himself the victim (moreso than Shelia...yes Sheila) and is all upset that no one like him and wants him out of the house (which just makes me HATE him more!!) If he loses Josh then he will really have no one... and by next week James will be begging to go to the jury house!!
Sidenote: James not giving Chels (so happy she left!) a charity vote just made James look worse to the house guests and more sneaky... Like he is only out for himself & that he has no ones back
Sharon on the other hand was never a fav of mine but now I am cheering her on as well! Josh in my eyes is acting more dirty now then he ever has in this game! That kid has no heart! Sharon would do anything for Josh! Sharon played a stupid move & had Adam put her on the block to save Josh...RISKY (thankfully, classy Chels helped her furr-endz, Sharon stay another week!!) When James won POV Sharon assumed Josh would be out (thats what the house wanted if James won POV) and Sharon wasn't crying because she wouldn't have anyone in the house.. she was crying because she felt bad for Josh!! And what does Josh do?? He throws her under the bus and then to add icing to the cake, he pretty muchs rubs it in her face by peeping her up for the following HOH & telling her to work with James/Shelia blah blah blah.... Ughhh what a cold hearted person! I understand Josh wants to stay and the only way to do so is to get out Sharon but come on... there are plenty of other ways to campaign without throwing her under the bus or lie to her! That just goes to show you what lengths Josh/James would do to stay in the house and win this game!

That clip of Sharon talking to Adam was so fake! She is a terrible liar. I don't like her. I would rather see Josh stay. I think a Josh/James team would be fun to watch.
I am really surprised survivor is still on the air. than again people watch other show like The young and the restless or wheel of forture for what? 30 years? how can they keep going.?

When I hear Big Brother 9 compared to the Real World in a disparaging way, I get the impression that it's more a commentary on how the show has gotten progressively more scripted, more producer involvement, and definitely more focus on the hot young bodies hooking up and boozing rather than real interpersonal relationships.
I agree that Real World is the mother of the genre, and deserves respect for that, but the direction the show has gone in the last couple of years is no where near the same show as when it started. There used to be real people (all shapes, sizes and ages), with real jobs and real lives in both Real World and Big Brother. Now you can't get on either show without an agent or a great bikini body.
Perhaps long time fans of Big Brother will remember the very first format in 2000, in which all the house guests could select two nominees for eviction. From the two nominees, it was the television viewer that decided which player would be eliminated from the game. Ironically, that eviction format still does very well for viewers of Big Brother Australia, UK, and Germany, but not for us. If you have ever caught a BB episode from other countries, you’ll notice game play as we know it, often times takes a backseat to the social experiment element of the game.
I believe when the necessary fill was needed to offset the writer’s strike, I don’t think the production team was looking to duplicate The Real World + competitions by casting younger players. Perhaps, this season’s twist just fits well with a certain age group – or so they thought. From the sounds of it on House Calls, a slightly older generational mix is set for BB10, but who knows? In the meantime, thanks for the continuous updates… simply awesome job!!!
