At bb9dish, we cover the Big Brother Live Feeds, so much of what we write could be considered a spoiler for those who only watch the broadcast on CBS. Now, we don't understand why anyone would choose to do that, since it's like forming an opinion based on 1/10,000th of the information, and they could at least try the feeds for free, but what do we know?! It's simple math at this point, if this is to be a full season, and every reliable source says it is, then there has to be a major twist, and soon!
Either couples have to be broken up to play as individuals, or there has to be a comp where a couple or two have a chance to come back in.
What are your theories on this?

play as individuals.... they've been told, play as-nominated-hoh as couples.. but never once have i heard "win as couples" plus they are not shown as couples on the memory wall. They all have their own picture. It just seems fitting..
i am still thinking Jen and/or Parker can/will come back just going by neither have logged into their personal Mysapces yet, they could be in sequester.
I wouldn't be surprised if it became a singles games THIS week.
Perhaps the producers (and CBS) decided to keep the option open to either have a shortened season or a full-length one. Starting out as couples, they can then look at the ratings, how the writer's strike plays (played) out, how season 10's cast is shaping up, etc and then determine whether to go with half a season (couples) or do the full length variety (by breaking into singles/bringing people back/etc).
I'm sure they don't want to burn fans out with a busted season and then dive right back into it a couple weeks later. Probably not a recipe for success.
I also thought it was interesting that Jen and Parker were put in sequester immediately. I think they will have a chance to come back and soon they will have to play as individuals.
I hope Alex makes it to that point!
As I said earlier in the season, I heard a theory where 3 couples would be voted out and then singles would play to the end. BUT...with no one popping up 'back home', it would seem that we will see old HG's back in the house. Also, the twist says 'til death do you PART. That says to me that once evicted, the couple is parted and can re-enter the house alone and play alone or be paired up with a new partner. Today's strategies could become obsolete. Everyone would be scrambling to re-group. And paranoia would hit the fan big time! A HG could end up being voted out with the strategy they helped develop with an original partner. The possibilities are endless...
right from the first eviction, sharon and jacob were kept in sequester. they couldn't possibly have guessed that something was going to happen to neil, so they must be sequestering all the evictees for either a twist return, or some kind of return involving a competition between and/or for the evictees. you can bet your bollocks ryan would play extra hard to be partnered up with jen this time round.
i can't imagine it going to a singles game this quickly if at all, what with the entire season being called "'til death..."; it would be a total cop-out on BB's part to set up this brand new couples game and then tear down the whole system three weeks in.
At this rate, if the song remains the same, show is over by end of March, right? That doesn't get CBS to sweeps in May. Will new shows be ready by April?
I think this completely depends on the ratings. Tell me if they are better than usual and I will make a prediction.
The subtitle of the show is probably meaninful since that is a new thing. There is going to have to be some kind of "death" for the couples to part. Peraps they are going to take out the Guinea Pig?
They cannot keep rotating couples in and out to get a full three months. They would have to do that several times, correct?
I am leaning towards short season unless I hear the ratings are phenomenal. These folks are collectively so disgusting taht ihis could be hurting future Big Brothers and they should probably kill it. Dissing Alex for his 9/11 cross and James saying he has money from the settlement as argument to ditch him? That is as disgusting as the noose business. Adam with his retards comment. The misoyny. CBS should want to kill this tainted turkey.

my theory is this...They play right down to last couple standing, then bring back the 5 evicted couples and switch them and start from scratch which would bring them right to April 30th or first week of May....end of season! Ceazt, but doable....
Well we know that Sharon and Jacob were in some sort of sequester. Which is why Sharon was able to come back. This is not the norm. My guess is when we get down to 4 couples and then all the couples that have already been kicked off will be mixed and matched with a new team mate. Maybe two or so of these new couples will be voted back in by the viewers. Heck maybe the couples that are still in will even be give this chance. To pick a new partner if you will.
i'm thinking they may do something back like season 6 where america votes someone back(kaysar) in ...only theyd vote a couple in? ...hence why they are keeping them in sequester.
While most of me says I think that they will be individuals part of me thinks that everyone may come back but as different couples. How convienient was it that after Sharon and Jake were evicted they were still sequestered and she was able to come back in. Are they keeping all the couples sequestered so they can come back in? Bloggin babes, is there a way to find out if any of the evicted houseguests are already home?

3/02/2008: (Sunday) Houseguests are nominated for eviction.
3/04/2008: (Tuesday) The Power of Veto competition is held.

3/09/2008: (Sunday) Nominations for eviction are announced.
3/11/2008: (Tuesday) The Power of Veto competition is held.
3/12/2008: (Wednesday) The fifth couple is evicted from the compound. This means that 3 couples are left to fight for the Final HoH... 3 parts competition.
This seems to be a way too short scenario (even though I believe a shorter season is most likely due to WGA strike being done).
Time will tell what will be... hopefully they will bring people back... having America decide which two or three for example. I remember Julie saying at some point before the start that WE would have a chance to vote.
OY... not only did LOWE'S cancel their ads on BB due to Adam and pressure from activists. Adam has also lost his job without knowing it. Tough luck dude...
We know this, all who got evicted is in sequester, that said, they are just holding them down or people will be returning and they will split them up.
The ratings have been sh*t this year, and sh*t is easy, it's been raw sewage literally, as wife swap has even beat them. Julie Chen said she wants to do the show until she's 70 years old, and if she wanted to, she can, because her husband is in charge of CBS.
I'm going off on realitybbq and their inside guy, as for the past 3 years he's been 100% and he is 100% in production, no debate about that.
All are in sequester at this point, but they will let CBS decide if they want to make this a full season or not, we'll find out in 2 weeks or so.
Besides that rant, I've hit your site again this year. Good stuff and it's the #1 site I hit when I wakeup.

ratings are bad for this season..but it is up against the ratings hog AI..
was hoping for full length BB..but it does seem like they have a way out if its not working..couples make it a shorter season..
I hope they can compete as individuals...

What show isn't losing to AI? And then on Sunday's... it's a crap shoot depending on competition.
Also, there are no real HITS so far this winter... even AI is down a bit.

They couldn't bring back all of the evictees as new couples because Neil is totally out. They didn't even show him in the opening credits after he left the show.
If they do shorten the season, I think CBS will have a few unhappy campers who bought the pass to get the feeds for three months only to find out they could have saved a few bucks and bought 2 months.
I hope either they do break them down into singles or bring back a couple of re-mixed couples. Maybe let America select a couple of new pairings from those already evicted and put them back in the house.

All evicted couples were put in sequester because they would be needed for the jury. Do the math.
Since they vote as couples, the jury had to start earlier.
The above applies if this was to be a short season.
If CBS decided they wanted a full season, then the rules could change and people be brought back in.
My hunch is that CBS will not ask for a full season, as some of their shows will be ready for airing in April. They might ask for an extra week, which would mean one couple only coming back.
NCAA Basketball tournament (which CBS pays billions to show) starts on March 20. It also dominates CBS programing from Thursday to Sunday (for more than 12 hours a day) for the next three weekends. The scenario that has 3 couples left at 3/12 works out the best for that timing. Big Brother will not invade on the Tourney
houseguests vote as couples, so all evictees are members of the final jury. how come no one has thought of this? just count the numbers of couples.
Summer is fine, it shines there. But now it's going against 2 other reality shows in Biggiest Loser and Wife Swap, for them to lose against that, there is no debate, it's a ratings disaster. Who cares about AI because all will lose against that.
I love BB more than most, but because of the strike they tried it, but it flopped, and there is now way to get around that.
That said, there will be a summers edition, let's hope for the best there.
Ok Natalie is the craziest house guest ever, just before midnight she shot milk from her nipples, I this is by far the craziest BB house ever.
IF it is a short season, boy oh boy will I be one ANGRY person because we paid $40 for 3 MONTHS. If no sort of refund is optional, I can say for one, I WILL NOT be a BB fan nor will I subscribe to the 24/7 feeds.

WOW... did not know about the basketball games... but that makes sense. Originally there was a rumor of 6 weeks... but that seems too short.
As for ratings... Wife Swap and The Biggest Loser do not target the same demographics. There is supposedly a younger crowd watching BB9. These people are also more popular with the advertisers. And don't forget, it's the added stuff that no other reality show has that brings extra money.
here is my thought about Sharon and Jacob-- I believe that they could of been kept for a twist but
my gut tells me we won't see a full season (which I'm fine by, because I love BB but too much isn't always a good thing and I love my BB in the summer- more time for feeds)

I just thought that since the episode they were evicted on was aired on Wednesday night- they were being kept until that show aired, or for jury.
Sharon came back that thursday. Maybe they found out about Neil's issue but knew the noms were about to happen so they held on to Sharon and jacob to see about replacement

What if they pulled some type of stunt to say during the live show they reveal the votes to evict either M/N or A/A and then say this was not an eviction week or something like that? Maybe I am crazy but didn't they do that once before?

Well I find everyones different theories interesting, I agree, I can't see them offering the 3 months of feed without notifying people that it won't be as long of a season, I also find it interesting with the basketball thing coming at the end of March...I also feel that there really hasn't been a draw dropping twist yet and it would seem to me that not only the HG's but us the audience deserve one....Keep up a great job Carolyn, you make my morning coffee so much more enjoyable :)

Well wouldnt a great twist be that Parker and Jen showed up for the HOH competion. If they win then they are back on the Show as hoh? If they lose they are out of the game.

I think because of low ratings and the Writers Strike being over, we are going to see a short season. I think they will have to to save it for the Summer. Plus, a short season will keep people wanting more!
why would the basketball schedule matter if it's Thursday through Sunday when BB airs Sunday night, Tuesday and Wednesday.... sounds like that schedule would be find since usually the baseketball games don't air on sunday nights anyway. I think they planned it that way on purpose.....or am I missing something?
I think they'll go the full 3 months and bring back some couples somehow. I think it would be great if they mixed up the pairs - it would add a nice bit of interest to the game and get rid of any "stale" air the house might have.
I think that on wednesday's live show after Alex and Amanda are evicted (my guess they're going next) Julie will reveal to US only that we will get to vote for 1 member from jen parker team and 1 member from alex amanda team to come back and play as a team, whoever gets highest votes on each team will come back as a team, could be both girls, could be both guys, could be guy and girl. I think they will do a twist like this for a while and have new teams, and then eventually go down to individual play

I thought Janelle was supposed to have some kind of roll in this season. From what I read I was under the impression that It would be a bigger part that last year.
Also, I really think they should split up couples at some point. I do not think it would be fair to share the winnings, after taxes it would not even cover the therapy they will need after the BB house.
I'm still down for the triads and the celbutards for the long awaited BB/Flavor Of Love crossover with Nat, Chelsia and Matt or Adam, Ryan and Josh competing against the unstoppable combos of Flavor Flav, Bunz and Hotlanta and, well, Alice Cooper, Leo Sayer and Lisa Marie Presley.
That would make it last through May!
And who wouldn't wanna see a hot strip show slash makeout party with Adam, Alice and Bunz?!
I'm hoping for a full-length season and hoping we get the chance to have some kind of input, whether that be how to remix the couples, voting people back in (maybe both those together), or voting people out...
Also, did Sheila ever get a definitive answer to her pondering about being allowed to change partners? Wouldn't that be a hoot if they found out that all along all they had to do was talk to each other and come to an agreement that they would switch partners! Although, I have to say, good luck to Sheila on finding anyone in the house willing to switch with her -- I don't think any of the guys want her for a partner nor do I think any of the girls want Adam...but it was an interesting thought.

I was thinking 6 people vote for the overall winner...but it's 7.
I think when it's 5 couples they'll split them up so that 7 can go to sequester. (which will happen this week) unless they keep playing a couples cause Julie said they had a second plan if the Strike ended early (which ended the 12th a day before the first episode aired)
Maybe the Sequesterd houseguests vote for the final winner(s) as pairs. which first meant 6 get to vote but now it's only 5 (Neil and Jacob can't vote)
Or maybe they'll take the final 4 teams (8 People) and move them into the BB10 house. But they would have to stay sequestered until then. Which wouldn't work...

This may be WAAAAAAY out there but maybe ALL of the couples will be evicted and a winner voted and then the summer season 10 EVERYONE from Season 9 is brought back in everyone plays as singles but if any one previous couple can stay until the end they get some additional prize and if the couple that was declaired the winner of the short season can stay until the end again then they get something unbelievably cool as a prize.
Completely unlikely... but trying to figure this is out is like trying to figure out the Mad Hatter and crazy midget in the house last year and it ended up being nothing. We just won't know until it happens...
I'm thinking some evictees will return to the house and the couples will be mixed up. Either by the viewers, or maybe thru a comp. Or maybe Julie will announce that the person they are with now is their "worst match-up" and they will now be re-coupled with their "true soulmate."
Okay, this has moved pretty far down on the blog, so don't know if anyone will see this to give an opinion, but what if the part Janelle is going to have this season is to be introduced into the game as a new HG? Who was she aligned with in BB7? (I only caught the tail end of that season -- it's actaully when my BB addiction really kicked in!) What if they are bringing them back as a couple? Or what if they let us choose one of the evicted HGs to come back in and then they are partnered with Janelle? Oh, I'd love to see either Alex or Parker partnered with her!

Pay close attention to how Julie introduces who will be playing with who.

Maybe after now getting a chance to get to know each other there will be a competition in which they will have to match up the actual soul mate. This couples thing can't last long, they need to allow them to play as individuals sooner or later.
